Flexible schedules. Except for difficult ports like those in Africa or Central America, major ports worldwide such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles have ships calling at Vietnamese ports with weekly schedules.

Flexible cargo volume. Even shipments of just a few tens of kilograms can be arranged as less-than-container load (LCL) shipments. Of course, it's more convenient if you have enough goods to fill one or more containers. For bulk cargo, the minimum shipment size is several thousand tons or more.

2. When to Choose Container Shipping

In some cases, shippers are unsure which transportation method best suits their needs. It's necessary to analyze which shipments are best suited for sea container shipping. These are relatively large shipments, around several tens of tons, that can be packed into one or more containers, transporting goods domestically by sea from Hai Phong port to Saigon port or vice versa. On this route, goods mainly travel between these two ports; domestic container ships rarely visit other ports like Da Nang or Quy Nhon. Most import and export goods are generally suitable for sea container shipping.

3. Goods Not Suitable for Container Shipping

High-value goods requiring fast delivery, such as jewelry and fresh flowers. In these cases, air freight is usually preferred, although more expensive, it is faster and safer.

Goods requiring specialized shipping include crude oil, liquefied natural gas, and automobiles.

First, contact the shipping company to find a suitable vessel for your schedule. Then, inquire about freight rates and related costs. Be aware of potential surcharges, as they can be significantly higher than the standard sea freight. Sign a berth agreement, providing the shipping company with the necessary information including the cargo name, number of containers, departure port, arrival port, and expected vessel.
